Clothes: Ruby wears a white knit cap that had a red band around the base with a white Pokeball emblem. Occasionally, he will wear glasses when sewing though he usually uses contact lenses. He wears a back, short-sleeved shirt with a red Pokeball emblem and markings along the side and he normally keeps the collar turned up. His pants are black and in two layers, with a baggier layer that just comes down over his knees and a tighter layer beneath. Ruby's shoes have a black base with a white tip along with lime-green and red accents. He also wears red, fingerless gloves with a black band around the wrist that also has a red stripe.

History: 
At a young age, Ruby was trained by his father Norman and exhibited great strength in Pokemon Battles. Initially, Ruby enjoyed this time together and at the age of five he was introduced to Sapphire, the daughter of  one of his father's friends. In spite of their differences, the two became good friends until a rouge Salamance attacked. Ruby immediately sprang into action to protect Sapphire and ended up taking a Dragon Claw attack that left two large scars on the upper part of his of his face that he now uses his hat to cover. Eventually, Ruby overpowered the Salamance, but his strength had scared Sapphire. From that point on he tried to hide his strength and chose to take part in Pokemon Contests rather than Battles where he learned an appreciation of beauty. Around the time of his 10th birthday, Norman was finally admitted as the new Gym Leader of Peatlburg City and his family moved to Hoenn. Ruby felt that he would be pressured to inherit the position after him and chose to run away rather than face Norman. Shorty after, he encountered Professor Birch who was being attacked by a pack of three Mightyenna. After escaping the Biting Pokemon he found himself face-to-face with a strange wild girl who he did not recognize as Sapphire. Norman eventually did catch up to Ruby, thoroughly enraged, but more by the fact that Ruby had not been honest with him than the fact that Ruby wanted to take part in contests. Ruby was now free to focus on earning ribbons, but he grew apathetic towards the controversy around the region. Eventually, his path crossed with Sapphire's once again while training with Winona after failing to earned her Feather Badge the first time. A stampeding heard of Gumpig appeared after being disturbed by the dueling teams Aqua and Mamga. Ruby to leap into action once again, but Sapphire grew angry that Ruby had been lying about his strength. Ignoring the flood conditions, Ruby contest that followed to end in failure. He lashed out at his Feebas because of this, and it fled. Wallace helped Ruby regain his focus, but not before the danger threatening the region grew critical.

Clothes: Sapphire's clothes were given to her by Ruby, first tailored from a pair of his own clothes and he later presented her with a completely new outfit. Her outfits consists of a a blue bandanna with a white pokeball emblem. Her shirt is sleeveless and flares slightly at the bottom. It is blue with a black collar and white pockets and accents. She wears black bicycle shorts as well as black socks. Her shoes are mostly blue with black and white accents around the ankle and over the top of the foot. In addition, she wears white gloves that are primarily white, but the fingers and wristband are black with a blue stripe.*

Trainer Goals: To become a strong trainer and to help with her father's research.

History:
After her shared unfortunate encounter with Salamance, Sapphire vowed that she wanted to become stronger and to learn as much about Pokemon as she could. She began to assist with her father's research by going out into the field and closely observing wild Pokemon. In order to blend in and to avoid detection, however, he preciously girly tendencies fell to the wayside. By the time she and Ruby were  reunited at the age of ten, she wore nothing but a grass skirt and a top made of leaves. When Ruby refused to battle for fear of his Pokemon becoming dirty she challenged him to an eighty-day challenge: he was to earn as many contest ribbons as he could in that time while she would attempt to earn as many gym badges as she could. Sapphire earned badges quickly, and even befriend all of the Gym Leaders. Her first loss was against Winona, who than agreed to mentor her before a rematch while Ruby became an apprentice to Walace after some pleading. The 80-day challenge became interrupted when the rivaling teams Auqua and Magma began to cause trouble and the situation escalated to its worst when Archie and Maxie succeeded in reviving Kyorge and Groudon. After being overwhelmed, she and Ruby ended up on Mirage Island where they trained with Tate and Liza to learn to fight as a team under the supervision of Juan while the rest of the Gym Leaders and Elite Four kept Groudon and Kyogre frozen. When the time came for Ruby and Sapphire to face the two legendaries again Sapphire confessed her feelings after learning of her shared history with Ruby and that he was the boy she had never forgotten. After a long battle, Ruby and Sapphire's teamwork was able to restore balance to the region, but the distorted flow of time during their stay on Mirage Island had left them with only a single day left in their challenge. Norman agreed to battle Sapphire to earn her final badge and Walace agreed to hold a contest for Ruby to earn his final ribbon. The challenge ended in a tie.

*Strangely, the color of Sapphire's clothes are somewhat inconsistent when it comes to the manga. Obviously, her first outfit resembles that of her game counterpart and, in addition to being altered from an alternate outfit of Ruby's, were Red in color. Her second outfit also resembles her game counterpart in style, but the color varies Some art shows it as still being red with a green bandanna like the game whereas other shows it being blue, as though Ruby specially made them to better reflect her and I like this idea better, so I went with blue.

*bump* Okay, this one is ready for review. I think (HOPE) I cover the story of the fifth chapter of the manga without spoiling TOO too much.

EDIT: Okay, so... I realized that I totally forgot to add a description of Sapphire's clothes. I just skipped right to the history after finish Ruby's because I was on such a role and the two's just intersect so much...
