He later meets the old couple who run the Pokemon Daycare in Goldenrod City and, after spending some time working for them and discovering his own unique skill , took an interest in Pokemon Breeding. He concurrently continues to work for the Daycare Couple who now view him as a surrogate grandson.
Type Affinity: Fire, VariedHistory: Gold has grown up around Pokemon his entire life and, in addition, has an affinity with billards, using a Pool Cue to launch his Pokeballs and release his Pokemon in a unique way. He one day witnesses a Pokemon and Pokedex being stolen from Professor Elm's lab while attempting to retrieve his own missing backpack but is later mistaken fro the thief. He then meets Professor Oak and asks him to give him one of the two remaining Pokedex to go after the real theif. At first, Professor Oak is reluctant at first but asks Gold what Pokemon mean to him to which he replies "Partners" and he was then given the Pokedex and allowed to keep the Cindaquill that had ended up in his possession after his first encounter with the thief. In his pursuit of the theif Gold later becomes involved in Neo Team Rocker's plan to capture Celebi, under the command of the Mask of Ice. [Team]
